Frequently Asked Questions

What is an Accident Assessment Report?

An accident assessment report is a professional evaluation carried out after a vehicle has been damaged in a collision or other incident such as fire, vandalism, or flooding. It documents the nature and extent of the damage, identifies the repairs and replacement parts required, and estimates the labour and parts costs necessary to restore the vehicle to its pre-accident condition.

Assessment reports may be commissioned by insurers, fleet operators, or private vehicle owners and are used to support repair planning, claims processing, and cost verification.

What is a Valuation Report?

A valuation report provides an independent opinion of a vehicle's current market value at a specific point in time. It is commonly used for insurance underwriting and renewal, financing, vehicle sale or purchase, asset management, financial reporting, succession, and legal purposes.

The valuation considers factors such as the vehicle's age, condition, mileage, specifications, service history, and prevailing market trends.

What is a Re-inspection Report?

A re-inspection report is conducted after restoration repairs have been completed following an accident. It verifies that agreed-upon repairs have been properly carried out in line with the initial assessment report, confirms that the correct parts have been used where applicable, and assesses whether the vehicle has been restored to pre-accident condition.

This provides assurance to insurers, fleet owners, and vehicle owners regarding the quality and completeness of the repair process.

When do I need a vehicle valuation?

You may require a valuation when obtaining or renewing insurance cover, applying for vehicle financing, buying or selling a vehicle, preparing financial statements, administering an estate, or resolving disputes involving vehicle value.

A professional valuation ensures you have an accurate, defensible, and up-to-date assessment of your vehicle's market value at the time of valuation.

What should I do after an accident?

After ensuring the safety of all occupants, report the incident to the relevant authorities and notify your insurer where applicable. Avoid starting repairs before a professional assessment has been carried out.

Keep photographs, police reports, and any other relevant evidence, as these assist in documenting the incident and supporting the claims or repair process.

How long does it take to compile a report?

We typically mobilize personnel shortly after being assigned. Most assessment reports are issued within one to three working days after inspection. Valuation and re-inspection reports can often be completed within a few hours to one working day depending on documentation and vehicle location.

Urgent assignments are prioritised where required.

Are your services regulated, and can you act as an expert witness?

Yes. We are a legally registered business and licensed by the Insurance Regulatory Authority of Kenya (IRA), the body responsible for regulating insurance-related professionals and ensuring compliance within the sector. We are also members of the Motor Assessors Association of Kenya (MAAK).

Our reports are prepared in line with established professional standards and are widely accepted by insurers and financial institutions. Where required, we may also provide expert clarification, arbitration input, or court testimony to support the technical findings contained in our reports.

How do you ensure repair quality?

Repair quality is monitored through structured checks during the repair process where necessary, helping ensure compliance with approved repair specifications.

Once repairs are completed, a re-inspection can be conducted to confirm that all approved work has been carried out correctly, correct parts have been fitted, and the vehicle has been restored to pre-accident condition.

Why should I value my fleet regularly?

Regular fleet valuations ensure that your vehicle assets are accurately documented in terms of current market value. This supports correct insurance cover, informed financial reporting, effective asset management, budgeting, and replacement planning.

For fleet owners, periodic valuations also help track depreciation trends, prevent under-insurance or over-insurance, and support better long-term operational and financial decision-making.

How much do you charge, and are your services VAT-deductible?

Our fees depend on the type of service, complexity of the assignment, and location of the vehicle. We always provide clear quotations before undertaking any work.

Where applicable under Kenyan tax regulations, VAT is charged on our services. VAT-registered clients may be able to claim input VAT in accordance with their own tax obligations.
